Rolling on the River Bike Tour

Grab your bike and get ready to roll through Historic Helena! You will be guided by two local cyclists who will give you a glimpse of our past and look into the rich ethnic diversity of this once-bustling river town.

Spend an afternoon feeling the Delta breeze on your skin as you roll down brick streets shaded by towering magnolia trees! You'll learn about our historic neighborhoods, hear stories about past residents and their way of life, and you'll also be given Historic Helena Scavenger Hunt questions. Whoever answers the most questions correctly will win a Delta prize! Good luck and have fun!

You will visit St. John’s Episcopal Church, built in 1914, where you will search for scavenger hunt clues and get a glimpse of the beautiful Tiffany stained glass window. 

You will then have a refreshment stop at the Pillow Thompson House, which is considered one of the finest examples of Queen Anne architecture in the South. You will hear stories about the eccentric Lady of the House and her “little dogs."

The Civil War Battle of Helena will come alive as you travel to Fort Curtis, Freedom Park, Battery C, and the Moore-Hornor House, which was the Union headquarters during the war and still has original bullet holes from the battle.

As you travel back to town you will stop at the oldest public building in the county, the Helena Museum of Phillips County, which offers a prestigious collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the Civil War.

Rolling would be no fun without a nice, cold brew to give you the energy you need! Kelly Courtyard in Downtown Historic Helena is just the place to taste King Biscuits with sausage and a refreshing beverage. 

Time for shopping and browsing before you finally meet at the Delta Cultural Center to learn about the Music of the Delta: the Blues! Helena is home to King Biscuit Time, the oldest running Blues radio program in the country. It still airs every weekday here at the Delta Cultural Center. You will become acquainted with the World Famous King Biscuit Blues Festival, which draws tens of thousands of visitors to Helena every Columbus Day weekend in October.

As your wheels begin to roll back to the River Park, you’ll have gained a real picture of life along the Mississippi River past and present through sights, sounds and tastes!

Strolling on the River Walking Tour

A three-mile walking tour through Helena is the perfect way to spend an afternoon learning about the Delta!

As you stroll along the river you will hear the history of Hernando De Soto, the first white man to arrive into Helena in 1541. Your journey will then take you into St. John’s Episcopal Church, built in 1853, to catch a glimpse of the magnificent Tiffany window as well as the other stunning stained glass windows.

Your guide will tell you stories about the other structures and their era as you make your way to the beautiful Cunningham Garden adjacent to the Major Tappan House, a visible reminder of the Gilded Age in eastern Arkansas. You will enjoy the displays of flora of the area.

Fort Curtis, replica of the Union Fort, is one of our most recently developed attractions. Adjacent is the Moore Hornor House, used as the Union headquarters during the war, where you can view bullet holes from the Battle of Helena.

The walk back to Historic Downtown Helena will take you to the oldest public building in the county, the Helena Museum of Phillips County, which offers a prestigious collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the Civil War.

Delta Biker's Tour

Explore the beautiful terrain of Helena and the surrounding areas on your dirt bike or motorcycle!

You provide your choice of wheels (motorcycles or dirt bikes), and we'll provide the fun!
Maximum of 12 riders, please!

You'll ride through Historic Helena and visit plenty of landmarks and cultural sites along the way. Then, you'll ride the nearby Great River Road National Scenic Byway, where miles of stunning landscapes and lush forest await you! After those 30 miles, share in a picnic alongside Bear Creek Lake in the Mississippi River State Park. As you continue riding through the Delta, you'll pass fields of cotton, corn, soybeans, and rice.

If you wish, you can enjoy adinner and choose to stay overnight at the home of DHT's owner, Munnie Jordan, at nearby Horseshoe Lake before heading back to Helena or riding on to Memphis. Regardless of your destination, Delta Heritage Tours will handle all logistics for you.
